Dave Rankin

Dave Rankin

Dave was initially drawn to the physical benefits of yoga in 2013 as another discipline to add to other physical fitness activities and soon turned into a way of life. What was once a simple physical practice has become a spiritual journey as well. The concepts of self-compassion, remaining present, and finding balance between effort and relaxation have changed his life.

Dave is constantly amazed by the power of the practice of yoga to transform one not just physically but mentally as well. Dave values the importance of getting to know oneself and adapting one’s life and yoga practice accordingly. It’s the excitement about spreading these good vibes that brought Dave to teaching yoga.

Dave completed his 200-hour RYT training in February 2016 in Baptiste Power Vinyasa style. Dave is also a certified Yin, Yoga Nidra and Restorative teacher. He has enjoyed teaching all levels of Vinyasa yoga, as well as Hatha, Yin, Yoga Nidra and Restorative classes. Dave is currently working on obtaining his 300-hour RYT teacher certification and hopes to complete it in 2019.

Dave strives to make his classes challenging and energizing as well as soothing. He structures them around the key elements of classical vinyasa and also incorporates creative sequencing to allow students to experiment and try new postures. Knowing that students will increase their strength and flexibility, Dave also hopes they will feel more grounded, self-aware and ready to explore a deeper connection to their own bodies. Dave believes in the transformative qualities of yoga that he has experienced in his own life. He is excited to be able to share his love of yoga on and off the mat.

Outside of yoga, Dave is retired and spends time with his three children (Lucy, Molly, Nathan) and three grandchildren (Sean, Dante, Andre).
