Longest Running Yoga Studio in Loudoun!

When I found yoga two years ago, the benefits of stress reduction and increased stability/mobility quickly became evident.  It was clear that yoga is key to healthy, happy aging, and I wanted to learn everything I could about it.  When Marcia and Mindy announced their 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training beginning in February of 2024, I was super excited, and I signed up immediately.  I figured this course would help me improve my form, learn anatomy a little more deeply, and teach me breathwork.  At the time, I had no real aspiration to actually teach yoga.

By the end of the first day of training, it was apparent that the course would be rigorous, challenging, comprehensive, and a TOTAL BLAST!  Throughout, Marcia asked us to trust her as she firmly but gently pushed us out of our comfort zones, presented us with a breadth of material (asanas, pranayama, history, philosophy, spirituality, Sanskrit, sequencing, ancient texts, energetics, meditation, and so much more!) in a thoughtfully designed format, and encouraged us to self-reflect.  Mindy provided an amazing space, shared her background in Kundalini and breathwork, arranged speakers for us, and guided us through specialty topics.  Olivia helped observe us as we taught, providing solid feedback on our strengths and suggestions meant to enhance our presentation.  Each practiced yoga with us, demonstrating their own personal approaches to and styles of teaching.  We moved A LOT.  We learned A LOT.  We laughed A LOT.

Perhaps the single best aspect of YTT, however, is the community it brought together.  Ten like-minded women assembled ready to learn and eager to support, motivate, and encourage one another.  It’s tough to make friends as an adult.  It’s scary to let your guard down enough to show vulnerability as you learn something new.  My Sister Yogis were completely committed to the enterprise and the most supportive group of women I have ever had the pleasure of learning with and working beside.  We witnessed one another’s growth and development of knowledge, skill, confidence, and spirit during the arc of our journey together.

In short, this YTT is worth every moment and every penny.  MEGA THANKS to Marcia, Mindy, and Olivia for the opportunity, the challenge, the guidance, and the beautiful community.  I feel fulfilled, prepared, and excited to teach!  I also feel very sad that YTT is over – Bittersweet.
